Overview IOLITE® 3xMEMS- Bridge monitoring equipment
IOLITE® 3xMEMS is a tailor-made data acquisition device family for Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and permanent condition monitoring on large assets such as bridges, buildings, antennas, and stadiums. Each device integrates a low-noise triaxial MEMS accelerometer, on-board ADC, and an EtherCAT interface, delivering synchronized vibration and inclination-ready data with excellent price/performance.

Because the analog-to-digital conversion is performed inside the device, the system avoids noise pickup from long analog cables. Measurements are immediately available in engineering units, and you can compute velocity, displacement, and static pitch/roll directly in DewesoftX from DC-response acceleration values. This makes IOLITE® 3xMEMS a practical “install-and-monitor” solution for long-term monitoring programs.

Bridge monitoring is a key use case where IOLITE® 3xMEMS helps owners and engineers understand structural behavior in real operating conditions. By distributing multiple devices along spans, piers, expansion joints, or critical sections, teams can track ambient vibration, traffic-induced response, and wind effects. The system supports workflows such as Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) to identify natural frequencies, mode shapes, and damping—valuable indicators for detecting stiffness changes, degradation trends, or abnormal dynamic behavior.

For bridges in Vietnam—including coastal and high-humidity environments—IP67 protection and wide operating temperature range enable reliable outdoor deployment. With DEWE VIETNAM, bridge SHM projects can be supported from system design and sensor placement to commissioning and training, helping shorten deployment time while maintaining measurement quality.

A major advantage of IOLITE® 3xMEMS is perfect synchronization. EtherCAT-based devices can be synchronized down to 1 µs device-to-device—critical when analyzing structural dynamics across multiple points. This tight timing alignment improves correlation between channels and supports reliable modal parameter estimation in OMA or other multi-sensor analyses.

The architecture is also highly distributable. Devices can be daisy-chained with an inexpensive CAT5e/CAT6 cable (up to 100 m node-to-node) carrying signal, power, and synchronization in one line. For very long assets or remote locations, optical converters can extend distances while keeping microsecond-level synchronization, making the system suitable for wide structures and long corridors.

For permanent monitoring, efficient storage and accessibility matter as much as measurement quality. IOLITE® systems work seamlessly with DEWESoftX, and can be integrated into long-term monitoring architectures using time-series storage and dashboards to review trends, thresholds, and events. Engineers can combine vibration channels with derived velocity/displacement and inclination-related indicators to build clear condition-monitoring KPIs.

Backed by Dewesoft quality, free lifetime software updates, and an industry-leading warranty, the IOLITE® 3xMEMS family provides a scalable path from pilot installations to full bridge monitoring networks. With local presence through DEWE VIETNAM, teams in Vietnam can deploy SHM solutions with practical on-site support and long-term operational confidence.
